Home Office – Helping to Sell a Home

March 5, 2020 by kate

With more and more people choosing to work from home, home office spaces have been moving higher and higher up a homebuyer’s wishlist. Having a versatile space that can easily be transformed into a home office can increase your property’s appeal. It just so happens that this month there’s a day dedicated to whipping a home workspace into shape! 10th March is officially ‘Organise your Home Office’ day! So, in this week’s blog article we thought we’d share our tips for creating the perfect home office space.

How to create the perfect home office, that can help to sell a home:

A Separate Space

Not everybody is lucky enough to have a spare room to convert into a home office. But, that doesn’t mean you have to go without. Consider how you can adapt the space you do have. Often a large entryway or, in a two-storey house, a landing can be adapted to accommodate a working space. If your living area is roomy, think about screening part of it to incorporate a working space. Check out some of these room partition solutions on the Metro Performance Glass website.

Super Storage

Generally, a home office is one of the areas of a home that is prone to clutter. Paperwork, desk objects, files and folders all build up. As regular readers of our blog will know, decluttering is key when you are preparing your home for sale. The secret to mastering this task is super storage. So, invest in some storage solutions that will help you keep a workspace tidy and appealing to your buyers.

Focus on Furniture

If a buyer is hoping to work from home, then they will certainly want to picture themselves beavering away in your home office. An old dining table and chair, really won’t cut the mustard, so it’s worth investing in a couple of key pieces of furniture to professionally present your space. We love the minimalist lines of the Urban Desk from Mocka.

Wifi that Wows

Fast broadband and good cellular coverage can often be a big drawcard for buyers who want to work from home. So, if you have superfast broadband or have adapted your home with smart technology to increase your Wifi signal make sure our agents know about it!

Move it Outside

Garages or outbuildings can often be converted into office space in a relatively cost-effective way. Even if you don’t want to go to the expense of a full conversion before you sell your home. Think about clearing the clutter and setting up a workspace in an outbuilding. This will serve to convince your buyers that it can be done!
