Sauvignon 2016, The International Sauvignon Blanc Celebration is the first of its kind in New Zealand and an opportunity for the New Zealand wine industry to host the world’s leading wine producers, experts and key influencers and shine the spotlight on this diverse, expressive and sought-after variety. We think it’s only fitting that this event is hosted in Marlborough, running over three days from Monday 1 February to Wednesday 3 February, 2016.
Bayleys Marlborough are proud to be sponsors of the Gala Dinner – the grand finale to an incredible line up of events. This grape variety, among others, has done so much to establish Marlborough as New Zealand’s flagship wine region, placing us on the international wine stage, as a magnificent province to work, rest and play!
We’re rather partial to a tipple or two from local wineries, and whilst some of us have been known to gather an assortment of wines that are being saved for a special occasion, some of us don’t always get to that stage.
If you’re in the former camp, we thought you might enjoy this list of stylish storage solutions for your cellar!
- For a French country look head to a friendly sparkling wine producer and ask if they have a riddling rack you might beg or buy. Critical to the process of Methode Traditionelle wine making, a riddling rack is made up of two simple rectangular boards hinged at the top, bottles are inclined and stored at a 45-degree angle.
- For an urban chic look, recycle and spray paint some tin cans, the brighter the better! Fix them together and voila! You have a funky counter top wine rack.
- For an ultra clean contemporary look use simple steel rods attached to the wall in pairs to support your wine bottles.
- Repurpose some shelves or a dresser. Search your local op shops for a piece with good bones, then remove the drawers (of a dresser), add some wine cubbies and a lick of paint or varnish.
